Abstract: The rich and unique local knowledge of ethnic tourism villages is the key to the development of sustainable tourism. Previous studies have examined tourists' positive behaviors by using knowledge as a moderating variable, which weakens the efficacy of local knowledge in the context of ethnic tourism, and it is not clear how local knowledge affects tourist value co-creation behavior. Based on the self-expansion theory, the article constructs an effect model of local knowledge on tourist value co-creation behavior from the perspective of human-land relationship. Taking Xijiang's Qianhu Miao Village as a research case, data was collected to empirically test the relationship between local knowledge, local attachment and tourist value co-creation behavior. The results of the study show that in ethnic tourism context, local knowledge can positively influence tourist value co-creation behavior, and local attachment has a mediating effect between local knowledge and tourist value co-creation behavior, tourist self-monitoring not only positively moderates the intensity of the effect of local knowledge on local attachment, but also actively affects the indirect effect of local attachment on the relationship between local knowledge and tourist value co-creation behavior. This study not only provides a theoretical basis for more effectively protecting and inheriting local knowledge in ethnic tourism villages, but also offers beneficial references for destination marketers and management organizations to optimize tourism products and services.
